Associate Scientist/Scientist; Stem Cell Biology

Pluristyx is seeking an innovative and talented Associate Scientist/Scientist with hands-on knowledge in stem cell biology, induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) reprogramming, differentiation, characterization, disease modeling, genome editing, and assay development. This position also requires expertise and experience in cell culturing, molecular biology techniques, microscopy, molecular cloning and gene expression analysis such as real- time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The candidate will be responsible for completing and assisting with daily tasks associated with PSC-related expansion and processing. Primary duties will also include producing and characterizing iPSC lines, differentiating and characterizing PSC progeny, and manufacturing final product for commercial distribution, including the creation and revision of relevant SOPs, and performing daily tasks in a controlled (possibly cGMP) environment. Candidate will be able to follow established Pluristyx rules, regulations, and safety precautions, documentation practices, and maintain quality standards. The candidate will work closely with internal functional teams and external clients and provide scientific results that support the generation of publications, patents, or regulatory submissions.
Education & Experience
PhD in Stem Cell Biology or related discipline;
Minimum five (5) years of experience in a stem cell research laboratory with human embryonic stem cell (ESC) and/or induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC);
Demonstrated experience in generation, differentiation, and banking of PSCs and other mammalian cell types;
Experience in Current Good Manufacturing Practices environment and flow cytometry preferred.
Duties & Daily Tasks
Reprogramming human somatic cell lines into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs);
Expanding ESCs and iPSCs in culture and banking for research use;
Differentiating iPSCs into leukocytes, cardiomyocytes (CMs), neurons, beta islet cells and other cell types;
Development of disease modeling assays through assessment of physiologically relevant phenotypes such as contractility, calcium imaging, bioenergetics profiling, and electrophysiology;
Development of disease modeling assays through comparative experiments of iPSC derived progeny with analogous human tissue; Genome editing of iPSC lines for mutation introduction and correction;
Perform facilities maintenance as needed, including ordering of supplies, materials, and equipment;
Follow, create, and update SOPs as needed;
Perform daily tasks in a controlled (possibly cGMP) environment;
Assist in training new and existing employees on the cell expansion manufacturing process;
Assist in providing positive and constructive individual feedback and building teamwork;
